I thought I would mark my first Blog post with another first in our family; child number two has her Learners and today we took her out for a drive. I guess you could say that it was something akin to cooking - that is the part where it is fun but if you are experimenting and unsure of the territory you are in things can very quickly become scary. At least that's how it felt in the back seat some of the time. My recent efforts in the kitchen are, as I said before, very much in the experimental phase; that is due to the use of alternative ingredients that don't upset us allergic folk. I am working on producing sweets that can be enjoyed by those with allergies and/or a restricted diet. This is real trial and error stuff. The errors still taste great but are not always pleasing to the eye or lack the consistency for the desired result. So for now I will persist like the regular Thomasina Edison that I am - hopefully it won't require 10,000 attempts! My latest effort is in trying to make allergy free fudge. So far I have made an amazing caramel sauce and that will go in the recipe book that I am working on but I will have another crack at the fudge and persist until I get it right. It's not about perfection but it is about not missing out and as long as I am around, me and my allergic counterparts will not go without. In the meantime I do have some yummy allergy free recipes on the website so feel free to check them out. Enjoy your day. Lee x
